Fred Olsen Windcarrier jack-up Brave Tern has completed the installation of all 70 turbines at the 350MW Wikinger offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.

The 5MW Adwen AD 5-135 hardware feature 135-metre rotor diameters. They will operate in "island mode" while transmission system operator 50Hertz carries out the final cable laying work and testing before connection to the mainland.

Developer Iberdrola hailed the successful installation as a "significant milestone" having previously completed the offshore substation and the array cables.

The Spanish company announced that it is moving its base for the project to a new operation and maintenance building in the port of Sassnitz.

Wikinger is Iberdrola's first offshore wind farm in Germany and is scheduled to be fully operational by the end of the year.
