Vineyard Wind, which is developing a 1GW offshore wind farm off the coast of Massachusetts, has named Lars Thaaning Pedersen as its new chief executive and Iain Henderson as its chief financial officer.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and Iberdrola subsidiary Avangrid Renewables each have 50% stakes in the project.

Pedersen was previously project director for Vineyard Wind on behalf of Copenhagen Offshore Partners, the offshore wind development company of CIP, for which he was co-CEO.

Henderson was formerly head of regulated transactions for ScottishPower Renewables, part of Iberdrola, which also owns Avangrid.

Erich Stephens, who has led development of Vineyard Wind since 2014, has also been named the chief development officer with a focus on the pre-construction of the project.

Pedersen said: “As we grow our team in Massachusetts, we have assembled some of the best people in the offshore wind industry to advance our effort.

“With Erich’s unrivalled experience developing offshore wind in the US, leading the Vineyard Wind project from its inception, and the addition of Iain to our team, we believe we will be able to soon deliver the best possible offshore wind project for Massachusetts.”
