NV Energy signals 100MW PV push
Approval sought for three PPAs from Public Utilities Commission of Nevada
NV Energy has filed a request with the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN) to approve three 25-year power purchase agreements (PPA) for three solar plants totalling 100MW.
The three projects will be built in Nevada, if approved by the PUCN.
They would consist of the 50MW Turquoise Nevada facility in Reno Technology Park in Washoe county, and the 25MW each Techren 3 and 4 projects in Boulder City's Eldorado Valley.
Turquoise is a joint venture between Estuary Capital Advisors and Sumitomo Corporation of Americas and is expected to be operational by the end of 2020.
The Techren projects, which are owned by Techren Solar, are slated to come online by the end of August 2020.
Up to 250 construction workers and nine permanent positions would be created by the three projects.
NV Energy president and chief executive Paul Caudill said: “These new projects signal an important step toward NV Energy’s commitment to partner with our customers in order to serve them with 100% renewable energy.”
