Work is underway to transform a disused area of Wick harbour in Scotland into an operations and maintenance base for SSE’s 588MW Beatrice offshore wind farm.
The work will involve the removal of an old slipway, re-profiling the quayside and the installation of new pontoons to provide berths for crew transfer vessels.
Wick Harbour Authority signed a 25-year lease last month with the wind farm development company – Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Ltd – including options for contract extension.
The work at the harbour is in addition to the renovation of two buildings in the Lower Pulteneytown area of the town.
All the work is expected to be complete by the end of 2018.
Siem Offshore has meanwhile kicked off installation of JDR-made array cables at the project.
