Orsted confirms Walney farm down
Compatriot pension funds take 50% stakes in 659MW Irish Sea giant
Danish giant Orsted has completed the divestment of a 50% share in its under-construction 659MW Walney 3 wind farm in the Irish Sea.
Compatriot pension funds PKA and PFA have acquired a 25% stake each as part of a £2bn deal.
Orsted – formerly Dong Energy – said the cash will be paid this year, with EPC contract payments also scheduled in 2017 as well as 2018.
The developer is building the wind farm under a full-scope EPC contract and will provide long-term O&M services from its base in Barrow-in-Furness.
It will feature a split of MHI Vestas and Siemens Gamesa turbines.
