Moventas gears up in Texas
Service operations to be expanded at Big Spring facility
Wind turbine gearbox manufacturer Moventas is expanding service operations at its Big Spring facility in Texas.
The company said the move is part of a “strategic investment aimed at further strengthening their service offering to the North American market”.
The facility, which is located in Howard County, will consist of a 2286 square-metre workshop and a further 10668 square-metre warehouse including a test bench.
It will be capable of repairing and load testing main gearboxes up to 3MW.
Moventas said all its US workshop repairs are being consolidated into the new facility, with Canadian repairs continuing at its Cambridge, Ontario facility.
Moventas global service senior vice president Martin Zingg said: “The consolidation of US workshop repair activities is at the core of Moventas’ revised strategy for North America.”
