Cape Cod tidal ready for action
MRECo says test site is open for business for developers and researchers
The Marine Renewable Energy Collaborative (MRECo) has installed a tidal energy test site in the Cape Cod Canal.
The Bourne tidal test site was installed by AGM Marine Contractors earlier this month.
MRECo said the structure will “sit and settle”, while Impact Labs installs the data acquisition and transmission system on the platform.
“We are seeking tidal device researchers, developers and facilitators to let them know that the first in the US permanent tidal test site is ready for business,” MRECo said.
It added that the site is pre-permitted, easy to access, and located in water that runs about 4 knots and is available for testing of complete turbines up to 3 metres in diameter or components.
