EIB backs Italian wind
€150m load granted for eights projects totalling 165MW
The European Investment Bank (EIB) has loaned €150m for the construction of eight wind farms in Italy totalling 165MW.
The EIB has granted the developers – Edison and E2i Energie Speciali – a line of credit to build the projects in Abruzzo, Basilicata, Campania, Puglia and Sicily.
The money may be deployed in multiple tranches, each with a term of 15 years, and will be available for 24 months.
Work is already underway on six of the wind farms in Abruzzo, Basilicata, Campania and Sicily, with ground to broken in Puglia later this year.
The news comes as the European wind sector is set to meet next week at the WindEurope 2017 conference and trade fair in Amsterdam.
