Actis banks Mexican solar cash
Finance secured for 179MW Santa María and 158MW Orejana projects
Zuma Energía, the renewable energy arm of private equity investor Actis, has secured $300m to build two solar plants totalling 337MW in Mexico.
Bancomext, Banobras, Nafin and the North American Development Bank are providing the funding.
The facilities are the 179MW Santa María plant in Galeana, Chihuahua, and the 158MW Orejana project in Hermosillo, Sonora.
Zuma Energia is exploring opportunities with local small and medium-sized companies for the construction and operations and maintenance stages of the projects.
The solar plants will consist of more than 1 million panels, Actis said.
