Lidar lights up Polish Baltic
Eolos and InnoEnergy deploy Zephir 300M unit for 1GW offshore project
Eolos and InnoEnergy have deployed a buoy with a Zephir 300M lidar in the Polish Baltic Sea to gather data for an unnamed 1GW wind farm.
The companies said it is the first time that a floating lidar has been deployed in that region of the Baltic Sea.
The lidar, which has been validated as "Stage Two" for data bankability by the Carbon Trust, will measure wind conditions for two years, Eolos said.
Eolos chief executive Rajai Aghabi said: “By launching the first floating Lidar into the Polish Baltic territory, we are not only helping our customer to optimise the development of a new wind farm, but we are also enabling Poland to take another step forward in its transition to renewables.”
