Danes pull Riffgrund 2 wires
MacArtney to supply two winches for cables at 450MW project
Danish outfit MacArtney is to provide two electrical cable winches for the 450MW Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The 150 kilo Newton (kN) and 200kN winches will be used to bring inter array cables and export cables from the seabed onto the substation deck.
The 200kN winch is stationary, while the 150kN unit rotates 360 degrees, enabling a straight pull to all J-tubes.
Orsted and Global Infrastructure Partners are developing Borkum Riffgrund 2.
It will consist of 56 MHI Vestas V164 8MW turbines.
