Avangrid Renewables has signed contracts with internet giant Google to supply 196MW of electricity from two wind farms in South Dakota.

The power purchase agreements will cover the total output of two 98MW projects at Coyote Ridge and Tatanka Ridge in Brookings and Deuel counties.

Google's director of global infrastructure Gary Demasi said: “Renewables from projects like Coyote Ridge and Tatanka Ridge bring value to our business as we scale and accelerate investment in the communities where we operate.”

Avangrid Renewables anticipates that the two wind farms will contribute more than $40m over their lifetimes in land lease and tax payments.
