Semco joins Hornsea 2 crew
Danish outfit to provide electrical consulting service to 1.4GW project
Orsted has selected Semco Maritime as an electrical engineering consultant for its 1.4GW Hornsea 2 project off the Yorkshire coast.
The Danish company will perform electrical and mechanical basic engineering design work for the 1.4GW offshore substation, as well as for a reactive compensation station.
Basic engineering would be carried out from November until October, 2018 and be executed from Semco Maritime's design offices in Esbjerg and Ballerup.
Hornsea 2 is being built 89km off the Yorkshire coast and is expected to be the world’s largest wind farm when it goes live in 2022.
"We see great potential in carrying over learnings and concepts from the Hornsea 1 project to this new project," Semco Maritime technology director Tommy Flindt said.
"We will focus on a close and integrated effort with Orsted to achieve our ambitions with regards to driving down the cost."
