French floater open for scrutiny
Decision on four 6MW GE turbine project expected in early 2019
French transmission system operator Réseau de Transport d’Electricité (RTE) and the developers of the four-turbine Groix and Belle-Ile floating offshore demonstration wind farm have filed an application to build the project with authorities in Brittany.
The application will now undergo scrutiny, including a public consultation next summer.
The regulators are expected to report on the application in the first quarter of 2019.
If the application is successful, the four 6MW GE Haliade turbines are expected to be operational in 2020.
The companies partnering on the project include Eolfi, CGN, Meridiam, Groupe Caisse des Depots, Naval Energies, Vinci Construction, GE, Valemo and RTE.
