Six vie for 1GW Nero prize
Tender open for 360 turbines at three Romanian wind farms
Six wind turbine manufacturers are participating in Dutch company Nero Renewables’ 1GW tender for three projects in Romania.
Nero Renewables said Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, Enercon, Senvion, Nordex and Lagerwey are participating in the tender, the results of which will be decided in the second quarter of next year.
It added that one or more of the manufacturers could be successful, with Dutch company Lagerwey being offered the opportunity to supply a “limited number of turbines” in order to provide “Dutch content”.
The projects will be built at three locations in the Muntenia and Dobrogea regions of Romania and will supply electricity into the European grid.
They will consist of 360 turbines in total, Nero said.
The company has offered the electricity to be generated by the projects to the Netherlands’ government as a so-called “joint project mechanism” under existing EU renewable energy regulations.
Under that particular mechanism, renewable power from a project can be shared between countries with or without the physical flow of the energy produced.
