Aquila, OX2 ride to Valhalla
85 Vestas V136 turbines to produce 1.1TWh annually in central Sweden
Aquila Capital is to acquire the 357MW Valhalla wind farm in Sweden from development company OX2, which will build the 85-turbine project under a turnkey contract.
The project in Bollnas and Ockelbo is fully permitted and will feature Vestas V136 4.2MW hardware with a tip height of 180 metres. Construction will begin immediately with turbine delivery expected to start in the second half of 2019.
Full operations are expected in 2020 with other contractors including Ellevio on grid works and Empower and Svevia on ground work and foundations.
The Vestas deal also includes a 20-year active output management 5000 service agreement.
Average wind speeds at the site are 7.1 metres per second and production is expected to reach 1.1TWh each year. A long-term power purchase deal has been lined up with a "high-calibre offtaker".
Aquila said: "Wind energy investments in the Nordics region are highly attractive and this project is especially remarkable due to the technical dimension and its performance features."
