Brazil nod for Enel PV giant
20-year supply contract awarded for 388MW São Gonçalo solar project
Enel Green Power Brasil Participações has won the right to build a 388MW solar PV project in São Gonçalo do Gurguéia municipality, in the State of Piauí, Brazil.
The São Gonçalo plant, expected to generate more than 850 gigawatt hours per year, will be supported by 20-year power supply contracts, involving a pool of distribution companies.
Enel is expected to invest $355m in the construction of the facility and operations are anticipated to begin in early 2021.
Head of Enel Green Power Antonio Cammisecra said: “The success of this tender marks another step forward for the Enel Group in Brazil, where we are already one of the leaders of the renewables market.”
