Iberdrola assembles Portugal hydro
Work starts on the first turbine for Gouvaes plant
Iberdrola has started the assembly of the first turbine for the Gouvaes hydro plant in Portugal, which will form part of the 1.158GW Tamega complex.
Tamega will comprise three dams – Gouvaes, Alto Tamega and Daivoes – that will produce 1766 gigawatt-hours a year.
It will cost €1.5bn to build.
Construction is expected to run until 2021, Iberdrola said.
