Environmental go for PEI wind farm
Province officials put 30MW Hermanville/Clearspring project in the clear
Prince Edward Island has granted environmental approval for the 30MW Hermanville/Clearspring wind farm in the Canadian province's Eastern Kings County.
The PEI Energy Corporation project, near the northeastern tip of the island, will employ 10 AW3000/116 3MW Acciona Windpower turbines. The developer is set to break ground in the spring with turbine erection slated for the fall.
“With the environmental impact assessment complete, we continue to move toward our target of having this wind farm operational by the end of this year,” said PEI Finance, Energy and Municipal Affairs Minister Wes Sheridan. “Along the way, all work on this project will be carried out in the most responsible and environmentally sustainable way possible.”
PEI Energy Corp is currently assessing bids for foundation design and engineering services.
