Innogy has appointed David Few as project director for the 1.2GW Sofia offshore wind farm off the east coast of England.

Few (pictured) is tasked with delivering a winning bid for Sofia in a Contracts for Difference auction and leading the project team through the pre-construction phases, Innogy said.

He was previously with engineering consultancy Atkins, where he headed up renewables and conventional generation projects, including three 400MW+ offshore wind projects.

Few said: “Throughout my career I have found it most rewarding to work on projects where there is complexity and scope for innovation, both of which are in abundance in the offshore wind sector.

“The opportunity to work for Innogy on the hugely exciting Sofia project was too good to miss.”

Sofia was formerly known as Dogger Bank Teesside B and will be located 165km off the north-east coast of England.

It has an agreed connection point at an existing National Grid substation located in Lackenby and was granted development consent in August 2015.
