Enercon is to make its market debut in Vietnam with an order for turbines totalling 77MW for the Mui Dinh and Trung Nam wind farms.
Mui Dinh will comprise 16 E-103 EP2 machines and Trung Nam 17 of the same model, both to be installed on steel towers with 85-metre hub heights.
The company is also in talks with the unnamed project developers to supply more hardware, which would bring the German manufacturer's total capacity in Vietnam to 152MW.
Enercon has opened an office in the country in Ho Chi Minh City and is in the process of establishing a service base in Ninh Thuan province.
Enercon regional manager for Asia-Pacific Steffen Brauns said: “Over the past few months we have been making careful preparations together with our customers for our launch in Vietnam.
“We are pleased that our plans to enter into the market with a total of 33 E-103 EP2 wind energy converters in two projects are being put into place quickly.
“This gives us a basis from which to expand our activities in Vietnam – a country with very good prospects for onshore wind energy.”
