Innovation guru to guide Sgurr
Former ScottishPower wind head Alan Mortimer signed to drive growth
Glasgow-based SgurrEnergy has appointed former ScottishPower head of wind development Alan Mortimer as director of innovation.
The signing, reported exclusively in subscription-only newsletter reNews, is aimed at driving the consultancy’s growth and will see Mortimer steer strategic direction.
In his time as head of wind development with ScottishPower he developed the strategy for a substantial wind portfolio including the 517MW Whitelee.
He was also subsequently head of policy for the company, helping to identify new business opportunities in renewables and technology development programmes.
SgurrEnergy technical director Ian Irvine said: “We are delighted that Alan is joining us in this pivotal role and we are looking forward to reaping the benefits of his experience and expertise in this industry.”
Mortimer added: “I am looking forward to embarking on this new challenge and using my experience to further shape SgurrEnergy as a leader in renewable energy consultancy.
“My years at ScottishPower, part of the global wind leader Iberdrola, have been hugely rewarding. This new role will allow me to extend my activities to address the challenges the sector as a whole must address as renewables moves to ever larger scale deployment here in the UK and around the globe.”
