Gamesa to debut in Philippines
Spanish manufacturer Gamesa is to supply 27 turbines for the 54MW San Lorenzo wind farm in the Philippines.
The contract with Japan’s Kanematsu Corporation, which is developing the project on Guimaras Island for Trans Asia Renewable Energy, marks the company’s first foray into the country.
Gamesa will handle supply, assembly and commissioning of the G90 2MW turbines and maintain the wind farm for six years with an option for renewal.
Deliveries are slated over the course of 2014 and the project is expected to be fully commissioned by the end of the year.
According to the Global Wind Energy Council the Philippines had a cumulative installed wind capacity of 33MW by the end of 2011 and is expected to install 200MW by 2015.
