Jumbo job at Butendiek
DP vessel Javelin to tackle transition pieces at 288MW wind farm
Jumbo Offshore has secured a contract for installation of transition pieces at WPD's 288MW Butendiek wind farm in the German North Sea.
The company will be working for lead foundation contractor Ballast Nedam on the job, which also covers transport from Esbjerg and crane support for grouting operations.
DP vessel Jumbo Javelin will carry out the work starting in summer 2014. It is planned to make 10 voyages of eight TPs each.
Each of the transition pieces weighs 330 tonnes, is 31 metres high and has a diameter of 5.5 metres. Javelin has increased its lifting capacity for the job by acquiring a 700 tonne SWL Fly-Jib.
Butendiek will feature 80 Siemens 3.6MW turbines some 35 nautical miles off Sylt.
