Senvion makes Ontario debut
Senvion Canada has powered up the 6MW Oxley wind farm near Lake Erie, Ontario, its first project in a 200MW pipeline in the province.
“I am very proud of our first Ontario project and the great spirit our local team has demonstrated,” said Senvion CEO for North America Helmut Herold.
The Essex County project features three MM92 turbines on 100-meter towers. The units are adapted for cold climates. Blades were produced at the manufacturer’s production facility in Welland, Ontario.
Senvion also has a 10-year service contract.
The wind project, initiated by Glen Estill and Henry Verhoeven, has a 20-year power purchase agreement under the renewable energy standing offer program (RESOP) that preceded Ontario’s feed-in tariff regime. The contract pays 11 cents/kWh.
