BSR breaks ground in Dorset
Construction at 8.7MW Canada Farm PV plant to be complete by year-end
British Solar Renewables has kicked off construction of the 8.7MW Canada Farm solar plant in Dorset.
The project, which is a partnership with investor Ingenious Clean Energy, will be sited on a 14-hectare site near Winterborne Stickland and will feature 35,600 260W panels.
Planning permission was granted last month and the facility is expected to be complete by year-end.
Canada Farm is a mixed livestock and arable farm and the solar installation is designed to allow sheep to continue grazing, BSR said.
Managing director Angus Macdonald said: “We are delighted to be building on our relationship with Ingenious by embarking on our fourth solar park within a year.”
Ingenious Clean Energy investment director Jeremy Milne added: “We are pleased to consolidate the burgeoning relationship with BSR and appreciate dealing with a high-quality counterparty with an excellent delivery track record”.
Corbin Industries will provide the steel fabrication and ground mounting systems while BSR subsidiary Renewable Energy Connections will provide the grid connection, working in conjunction with distribution network operator Scottish & Southern Electricity.
