Gamesa toasts 1GW Mexico O&M
Milestone figure following deal with Iberdrola at La Ventosa 3 wind farm
Gamesa now has more than 1GW of wind capacity under operation and maintenance in Mexico after signing a contract with Iberdrola for services at the La Ventosa 3 project in the state of Oaxaca.
The Spanish company said the milestone reinforces its “solid” position in the business segment and it expects to boost the figure by 50% to 1.5GW by the end of 2015.
Gamesa started up its Mexican O&M operations in 1999 and the first post-warranty maintenance contract was secured in 2011 at the La Rumorosa wind farm.
Since then, post-warranty services provided by the company have grown to 722MW.
Gamesa has installed more than 1300MW of its turbines in Mexico and has developed and commissioned 244MW with another 70MW under construction and “a large pipeline at varying stages of development”.
