Pickles downs fifth RWE wind farm
Tory minister rejects 18MW River Valley project in East Riding of Yorkshire
Communities Secretary Eric Pickles has thrown out RWE Innogy’s 18MW River Valley wind farm in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
The decision was made in line with the Planning Inspectorate’s advice following a public inquiry into the six-turbine development near Holme-on-Spalding-Moor.
The Conservative minister (pictured) said the cumulative effects with existing and consented turbines are “particularly important… with respect to the likely impact on the character and appearance of the area and on heritage assets”.
River Valley is RWE’s fifth wind farm to be denied planning permission by Pickles.
The DCLG boss has rejected RWE’s 36MW Nun Wood and 25MW Saxby Wold schemes in line with PINS advice and the 30MW East Heslerton and 15MW Orchard Way against the inspectorate’s recommendation.
