US group targets FiT wind fleet
Scottish manufacturer Orenda inks deal to supply 51kW turbines
Scottish manufacturer Orenda Energy Solutions has signed a deal to supply 51kW wind turbines to a US consortium looking to tap the UK’s Feed-in Tariff.
Orenda said a minimum of six Skye units (pictured) will be “installed at pre-determined locations” by the group, which is made up of “high net worth individuals”.
The consortium is expecting to achieve an aggregate rate of return of approximately 14% over a 20-year period under the FiT.
Ten sites are expected to be available for investment in the UK and a similar number available in Italy, where Orenda has a strong market presence, by the middle of this year.
Orenda vice president for sales and marketing Steve McMahon said: “This is a quantum leap forward for Orenda. It shows great support and faith in our turbine.”
