Solar tops 45GW
Wiki-Solar.org says a total of 8GW has been commissioned so far in 2015
Global capacity of utility-scale solar photovoltaic energy reached 45GW at the half year point, according to Wiki-Solar.org.
A total of 8GW has been commissioned so far in 2015, which Wiki-Solar.org said “looks likely to set yet another annual record”.
China and the UK have shown the highest growth so far in 2015. China now exceeds 10GW in total, while the UK installed 2GW of new capacity in the first quarter.
The USA still tops the list with more than 10.4GW installed.
Wiki-Solar founder Philip Wolfe said: “Developments in countries further down the list are also interesting. Japan, France and Canada are all continuing to build capacity, and it looks to be only a matter of time before they too overtake Spain.”
These results are based on data published by the end of June 2015.
