WPD full power at Butendiek
80 Siemens turbines operational at 288MW offshore wind farm
Construction of the 288MW Butendiek offshore wind farm in the North Sea is complete with all 80 turbines now operational.
The joint owners WPD, Marguerite Fund, Siemens Financial Services, Industriens Pension, Pensionskassernes Administration, CDC Infrastructure and Elektrizitätswerk der Stadt Zürich.
Bremen wind developer and operator WPD is responsible for the construction and operation of the wind farm.
All foundations, cables and the substation were installed on schedule, with the last turbine put in place in mid-June.
Butendiek project director Martin Lehnhoff said: “Already eleven months after start of construction, the first wind turbine fed electricity into the public grid. This makes Butendiek the fastest established offshore project.
OWP Butendiek managing director Achim Berge Olsen said: “The lowest value has been measured regarding noise emissions during installation and the €1.3bn OWF Butendiek project has been completed on schedule and within budget.”
