Vattenfall strengthens team
Simmelsgaard joins growing wind business
European energy company Vattenfall has strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of Michael Simmelsgaard as vice president of strategic projects.
Simmelsgaard joins from Dong where he was vice president for its Wind Operations business.
Michael Simmelsgaard said: “I am very excited to join Vattenfall and its great team of engaged and competent people and being part of transforming the Vattenfall Group to an even more renewable agenda.”
Last year, Vattenfall’s chief executive Magnus Hall created a new business division – business area wind – to try and grow its wind business across the UK, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden.
Vattenfall head of business area wind, Gunnar Groebler said: “The purpose for bringing Michael on board is to accelerate our development in key strategic areas and increase our senior competence in wind, which is a crucial factor for Vattenfall going forward.”
